Navigating My Career Journey and Launching Valiant Strategies in New York City

On May 22nd, I will be attending the Women in Procurement event in New York City, Navigating Your Career and Inspiring the Next Generation of Women in Procurement.

This event holds deep meaning for me because my career in procurement has never been a straight line. There was a time, not very long ago, when I felt so discouraged, so unseen, that I seriously considered walking away from the profession altogether. Even with everything I had accomplished, it often felt like I was moving through a space that did not fully recognize the value that women, especially women from diverse backgrounds, could bring.

I was often passed over for opportunities, even when I was the most qualified person in the room. It became clear that merit alone was not enough. Navigating procurement meant navigating an environment where visibility, sponsorship, and advocacy were often harder to access for women like me. The constant uphill battles, the limited representation in leadership spaces, and the quiet moments of feeling invisible began to weigh heavily on me.

What I eventually realized is that I was not meant to walk away. I was meant to stay, to lead, and to create the kind of change I once wished I had around me.

This realization became the foundation for Valiant Strategies. I founded the consultancy with a clear mission: to help organizations and professionals navigate procurement with clarity, strength, and leadership. Valiant Strategies focuses on building stronger procurement capabilities, advancing leadership development, improving strategic positioning for government and complex procurement opportunities, and creating environments where procurement is a true driver of innovation, not just a transactional function.

Attending the Women in Procurement event in New York represents an important moment in that journey. Throughout the event, we will be hearing from women who have built powerful careers in procurement, those who have transitioned in and out of the profession, and those who are beginning to shape the future.

We will be discussing practical advice on mentorship, sponsorship, career growth, and how to create environments that truly support women at every stage of their professional journey. It is about ensuring that the next generation does not just find a place in procurement but feels empowered to lead it forward.

While I am in New York, I am proud to introduce Valiant Strategies to a broader audience. Through our work, we help organizations strengthen their procurement strategies, build resilient teams, and approach procurement as a strategic enabler of broader organizational goals.

For those who are navigating their own career paths, building momentum, or thinking about their next move, I would be happy to connect while I am there.

Procurement is at a critical point where leadership, courage, and collaboration matter more than ever. I look forward to contributing to that conversation and helping others shape a future that is more inclusive, impactful, and led by those who are ready to challenge the status quo.

On a personal level, standing in this moment feels like reclaiming something I almost lost — my belief that there is a place for women to lead boldly, to be seen, and to make a lasting impact. Building Valiant Strategies was never just about starting a business. It was about creating a platform for others who have faced the same doubts, setbacks, and invisible barriers I once faced. I am proud to be part of this community, and even more proud to help shape a future where others will not have to fight so hard just to be recognized for the value they bring.
